    Age Divisions

    Junior, Intermediate, and Senior Divisions: 

                         all ages are as of Sept. 1, 2011

    • Juniors 8-10
    • Intermediates 11-13
    • Seniors 14-18

     

  • Rules & Regulations

    • The Horse Show Committee reserves the right to combine, split, or cancel any class(es).
    • All exhibitors are REQUIRED to wear an SEI or SEI/ASTM approved safety equestrian helmet with fastened chin harness in all classes. (SEI – Safety Equipment Institute, ASTM – American Society of Testing and Measures).
    • Appropriate footwear and attire must be worn at all times. This pertains to the entire show grounds from the time of arrival until departure.
    • Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
    • No stallions allowed in classes
    • Riding outside of the arena is not allowed     
    • Participation is open to any Walton County resident under the age of 18 and to members of Walton County 4-H and FFA clubs.
    • The horse must be owned by youth or a family member, and should be the youth's personal project horse.
    • Exhibitors must register with Horse Division Chairman by Oct 5th, 2011
    • All horses on Walton County Fairgrounds must be accompanied by a negative Coggins Test not more than 12 months old.
    • After you've been cleared by the Ag inspector, please bring your Coggins to the office to have a copy made.
    • Class divisions will be based on the age of the contestant as of September 1, 2011. The age requirements for Junior, Intermediate, & Senior Showmanship are as listed above.
    • Arrival and Release times must be followed, exhibitors leaving early without approval of the Chairman, will forfeit award premiums.
    • Stall space for horse show contestants is not guaranteed. They will be available first to contestants in the stall decorating contest, any remaining will be offered on a first come basis.
    • Any unsoundness or horses showing signs of being sick will be promptly excused. 

     

  • Stall Decorating

    Only youth entries will be judged.  Ribbons and Premiums will be paid for:

    • 1st place 
    • 2nd place
    • 3rd place
    Participation -ribbon only
  • Youth Showmanship

    • English or Western attire and tack must be worn.
    • Patterns will be posted in the barn prior to the show.
    • Ribbons awarded for 1st – 10th  and participation in each age division.
    • Premiums awarded for 1st – 5th  in each age division.

     

    Age Divisions

  • Youth Horse Equitation/Horsemanship Class

    Age divisions: Junior, Intermediate, & Senior.

    • Combined class of both English Equitation and Western Horsemanship based on age divisions.  Riders will be asked to perform individual patterns.  The patterns will consist of a combination of maneuvers that will test the equitation/horsemanship skills of the rider.
    • Patterns will be posted in the barn prior to the show.
    • All individuals, or finalists from the individual workouts, may be asked to enter the ring and work on the rail.
    • Ribbons awarded for 1st-10th and participation in each age division.
    • Premiums awarded for 1st- 5th in each age division.
    • Ribbons and premiums to be determined from all entries throughout the week of the Fair.
