BAKING CONTEST
- Sunday, October 9th, 2 - 4PM
- Judging at 4:30 PM
- Entries will be auctioned Monday, October 10th, 6:00 PM
Ribbons
- Best in Show - Rozette and prize or gift certificate from a local business
- Blue Award - Blue Ribbon and prize or gift certificate from a local business
- Red Award - Red Ribbon and prize or gift certificate from a local business
- White Award -White ribbon and premium paid
- Participation - ribbons awarded
Rules
- Baked goods, limit one entry in each division.
- All entries must have the entrant’s name and phone number on the bottom of the plate or pan so it is not showing to the public.
- All entries must be made from scratch. No purchased crusts, mixes, or icings.
- Canned fillings are not allowed. Baked goods should be made by the entering exhibitor.
- No refrigeration provided.
- Broken cookies are not accepted.
- All baked goods should be on or in a disposable container as they will be auctioned off Monday night.
- Entries in the Baked Goods Division are open to Walton County 4H and FFA members and all citizens of Walton, Okaloosa, & Holmes Counties.
- Items submitted must be of sufficient quantity for judging, auction, and display. (i.e. minimum of 1-12 individual servings; pies and cakes must be intact; minimum of 2 dozen cookies)
Divisions
- Sweet Breads - Includes all types of sweet breads: cinnamon rolls, dessert breads, coffee cake, etc. You may enter loaf or rolls. Judged on crust, taste, texture, and overall appearance.
- Pies - These will be combined into a single category but judged according to the rules listed under the types of pies below.
- Fruit Pies (single or double crust) - Must contain pieces of fruit that has been home canned or fresh. Judged on crust, taste, texture and overall appearance. Upper crust may be decorative.
- Custard and Non-Fruit Pies - Including pumpkin, pecan, buttermilk, key lime.
- Breads - Including yeast, sourdough, wheat, rye, French, and any other non-sweet bread. Includes biscuits and corn bread. You may enter loaf or rolls. Judged on crust, taste, texture and overall appearance.
- Cookies - Must provide at least two dozen cookies. Includes brownies and bar cookies. Cookies judged on uniformity in size and color, texture, and overall taste.
- Cakes - Single or multiple layers including split and filled, chiffon (angel), and pound. Cakes will be judged on appearance, taste, texture, and uniformity. This is not a decorating contest.
- Youth - All baked goods from participants, 14 years of age and younger.
- Miscellaneous (i.e. candy, bread pudding, biscotti, etc)
